ABOUT THE SERVICE

Dial a Ride is a door to door transport service designed for elderly or disabled people who, for whatever reason, find it difficult to use public transport, and who live in an area served by Dial a Ride.
The service uses specially adapted vehicles to carry passengers with or without wheelchairs. Each vehicle is equipped with a passenger lift or ramp, and has steps and handrails fitted as standard.

Dial a Ride serves the Winchester area from Monday to Friday between 9.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. and the villages surrounding Winchester on designated days.
Evening and weekend trips are available using a single wheelchair vehicle.

All journeys, including your return journey, must be booked in advance.
All ‘first time’ users of the service will be asked to register as users of the Service.
No block bookings can be made, and users can only have a maximum of 2 trips booked at any one time.
Bookings are accepted up to 8 days prior to the date of the trip. One escort may be booked per person.

Trips are allocated on a ‘first call’ basis, so early booking is advised.
When you book your trip you will be asked to agree your pickup and return times with the organiser.

Fares are based on a system similar to local bus fares. You pay the driver just as you would on a bus.

Please Note: The service cannot take you to hospital appointments or day centres.
(These trips should be arranged by the hospital, your doctor, or Social Services).
